Residence & Studio Coastal Maine - 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | BACK TO WORK

The project consists of a house, a barn and an artist’s studio in an open shoreland meadow. Influenced by the vocabulary of the Maine farm vernacular and the heritage of Shaker architecture, the three buildings are placed around a gravel courtyard, grounding them on the expansive lot. To emphasize the natural beauty of the property, the austerity of the forms and the texture of the materials, the color palate has been kept as simple as possible.
